Privacy Policy

Who we are

Tasteful is run by a single independent developer, not a company. The service is free, shows no ads, and is supported only by voluntary donations.

What data we collect

Your Steam ID — a public 64-bit number — when you sign in with Steam.

From the Steam Web API, tied to your Steam ID: the games you own, your total and recent playtime, and when you last played each game.

Only if you use the Friends feature: your Steam friends list, including their public Steam names, avatars, online status, and the game they are currently playing.

A "taste profile" — a small set of numeric scores we compute from the data above.

We do NOT collect your real name, email, password, phone number, payment card, or postal address. We do not log your IP address against your Steam ID.

Cookies

"steam_id" — keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only and expires after 7 days.

"lang" — remembers your language choice. It expires after about 1 year.

We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use your data

Solely to generate your personalized game recommendations and to power the Friends and Gift features. We never sell your data, show ads, or share it for marketing.

Where your data is stored

Supabase — database hosting. It stores your Steam ID and a cache of your library and friends data.

Vercel — website hosting. Vercel Analytics collects anonymous, aggregated usage and performance metrics that are not linked to your Steam ID.

Steam (Valve Corporation) — we read your library and friends data live from the Steam Web API.

Data retention

We cache your library and friends data to keep the app fast (friends data is refreshed roughly every 24 hours). We keep your data while you use the service. If you stop using it or ask us to delete it, your stored data is removed.

Third parties

Steam / Valve (data source and sign-in), Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and DonationAlerts (donations).

Donations are handled entirely by DonationAlerts on their own site — we never receive or store your payment details. Donations are voluntary support only: all recommendations are free.

No AI processing of your data

Recommendations are produced by a local algorithm running on our own server. Your data is not sent to any large language model or external AI service.

Your rights

You can log out at any time, which deletes the sign-in cookie.

You can revoke Tasteful’s access at any time in your Steam privacy settings.

You can request deletion of any data we hold by emailing apptasteful.contact@gmail.com. We will delete it within a reasonable time.

Children

Tasteful is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Not affiliated with Valve or Steam

Tasteful is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation or Steam. "Steam" and related marks belong to Valve.
